The Case for Case Studies

Role-playing can be fun, but does it always feel real? Sometimes, it turns into a performance rather than an opportunity to reflect and learn.

Case studies, on the other hand, bring actual challenges, real decisions, and their consequences into the picture. Instead of just acting out a scripted scenario, learners dive into situations where choices had real stakes and outcomes that mattered.

The best part? Case studies make learning more relatable. They connect theory to reality, helping participants see how concepts apply in their own work and daily experiences. They also spark deeper discussions, encourage critical thinking, and allow learners to analyse different perspectives (something role-playing doesn’t always achieve).

So, the next time you’re planning a session, consider using a case study. It adds depth, keeps engagement high, and ensures the learning sticks long after the session ends. A well-chosen story can turn a simple lesson into a powerful experience!
