As such, the nature of the HRD Corp TTT is to equip trainers with the minimum knowledge, skills and expected behaviours of a professional trainer participating in the training industry under the space of HRD Corp. This HRD Corp TTT focuses on designing, delivering, and assessing the effectiveness of a training programme. Other Train-the-Trainer courses may focus on other specific areas such as delivering safety topics (NIOSH TTT), technical and vocational training delivery (TVET) and others.

Q: What are the minimum qualifications to attend HRD Corp TTT?

Since the HRD Corp Train the Trainer Certification Course is meant to be a baseline standard for the training industry, there is no specific prerequisite to attend the programme.

Nevertheless, having some exposure in training and the ambition to be a professional trainer would be favourable. On the other hand, for those with extensive years in adult learning and familiar with corporate training operations but have yet to be professionally certified, may find the course easier to follow with the content serving the purpose of a reinforcement or refresher to their practical experience.

Q: What is the content of the course (HRD Corp TTT)

The 5-Day HRD Corp Train the Trainer Certification Course consist of 5 modules:

  • CT1 Plan Adult Learning

This module builds the foundation for the rest of the TTT certification course. By understanding the core principles of adult learning, trainers will be able to deploy strategic methodologies to ensure achievement of training objectives in a more systematic and structured manner.

  • CT2 Conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA)

A training programme should address the right competency gap between current performance level and targeted performance level. A trainer needs to be aware of this by conducting a TNA prior to designing a training intervention. This module will cover the necessary steps that needs to be taken to execute a TNA.

  • CT3 Design Competency-Based Training Programme

Once the right competency gap is identified, a trainer will then move to develop and design a training intervention that would address the right issues to achieve the targeted outcome. This module will focus on building a training programme that is in line with the requirements of HRD Corp.

  • CT4 Conduct Competency-Based Training Programme

To deliver an effective training session, a trainer needs to be resourceful and diversified in his or her approach to ensure engagement with the participants. This module goes beyond merely presentation or public speaking skills – it focuses on fulfilling the participants’ learning objectives.

  • CT5 Assess Participant’s Competence

The success of any training intervention is the acquirement of knowledge and skills for the participants. Therefore, this module is critical to ensure that trainers will have participants’ competency assessment embedded in their training programme. This is also in line with the implementation of HRD-TEE initiative.

Each of the module represents the required competencies of a trainer. If you need a detailed list of all the sub-modules, feel free to download our HRD Corp TTT course outline.

Q: What should I do to prepare for attending the course (HRD Corp TTT)

Since the TTT session will include a practical assessment, you will need to bring the necessary items needed for you to be able to conduct a mock training session successfully. This may include preparing training aids, props, and the proper attire. Best to come with a clear end in mind – Pick a topic for the TTT Final Assessment that you know well and are comfortable to deliver. This will enable you to be better prepared for the assessment.

As for attending the class itself, come with an open mind to learn – from the Lead Trainer and other participants. Clarify any questions you may have about HRD Corp, the training industries, and best practice tips  by asking it to the Lead Trainer during the 5-days.

Q: What do I need to do to pass the final assessment in the course (HRDF Corp TTT)?

The HRD Corp Train the Trainer Certification Course is not a “I paid therefore I will get the certificate” programme. The certification is to be earned by showing that one possesses the right set of competencies that is required to be a trainer.

The final assessment is one of the mechanisms put in place to ensure that what was learned in the 5-days are being applied consciously by the participants.

Q: Will marks be deducted if I use Bahasa Melayu during the final assessment?

Of course not! Although the HRD Corp Train the Trainer Certification Course was designed and developed in English, our Lead Trainers are bilingual and as long as the final assessment is delivered by the participants in a comprehensible level of English or Bahasa Melayu, marks will be given for all the criteria met. On top of that, language or topic category is not part of the assessment criteria.

Q: Did anyone ever fail the final assessment? Why did they fail?

Yes. We at Access Ideas Malaysia make it a point to exercise our full responsibility to ensure that only qualified participants are evaluated as “competent”.

This means that we will not simply certify every participant. We have had several participants who did not qualify in the first round of assessment. More often than not, the reason they fail is because they took the assessment lightly.

Of course, those who meet the assessment criteria set by HRD Corp will be scored fairly and the result will reflect their effort to display the application of right competencies.

What to do after attending the 5-days HRD Corp TTT Certification Course?

Of course, the next action to be taken after the 5-days is to be familiar with HRD Corp. This includes visiting their official website, following them via your social media of choice, and when time permits, visit their office closest to you if you have any questions on their services.

You may also want to start networking with fellow trainers, training provides and potential clients.
