First Gathering of AIM’s TTT Alumni

16 batches.

130 participants.

All trained within the span of one and a half year since Access Ideas (M) Sdn. Bhd. was appointed as one of the 24 training providers approved to conduct the Train the Trainer programme for PSMB.

Although many of these PSMB certified trainers have built a strong bond amongst those of the same batch, this was the first time they had met face to face with others from different batches. With having the same common experience, it didn’t take them long to get connected with each other and became friends during this event.

Alumni from different batches getting to know each other

AIM’s goal of organising this gathering was not only to allow cross-batch networking but also to provide added value to further enhance the trainer’s knowledge by inviting two guest speakers to share some insights to the alumni. And in the spirit of Syawal, #BalikKampungAIM was the theme of the day. “Kampung AIM” was meant to be an analogy of a safe place alumni can always go back to find support and guidance beyond the Train the Trainer programme.

Asip Rahmat, an alumni from batch 6 was the Master of Ceremony for the day, started off by sharing his own personal experience of “Kampung AIM” where he has received the right guidance and support to develop his now SBL-Khas registered programme called, “Trust and Business Relationship Management” – a unique selling skills training that emphasizes more on the personal touch rather than product superiority or seer gung-ho to close a sale.

Next to take the stage was the Idea Sensei himself, Mr. Fauzan sharing on his vision to “make training accessible” by enabling alumni to have better market reach through several initiatives develop by team AIM. This includes a platform to share trainer’s information directly to potential clients, access to training venues with support from regional teams throughout Malaysia, further trainer development workshops between alumni and possibly more networking and engagement sessions in the coming months.

Following this, Mr. Mohd. Syaufiq, Penolong Pengarah Bahagian Hakcipta Perbadanan Harta Intelek (MyIPO) shared some insights on how trainers can protect their training material copyright.

 Mr. Syaufiq from MyIPO

As copyright is a two-way street, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” would be the best quote to summarise the whole talk. Although trainers can use other people’s work under the intent of “teaching”, it is always best to acknowledge the source of references especially when involving commercial gain. Some effort must be made to receive permission to avoid unwanted legal trouble in the future. Trainers are encouraged to keep track of where they got their training audio visuals including videos, music, pictures, fonts and icons, and give credit where credit is due. This then translates to getting their own original work copyright protected – outline, slides, concept, model, notes, handouts etc. Lucky for us in Malaysia, getting our work copyright protected is a simple process that can be done individually through MyIPO for a mere investment of RM45 upon publication.

Ritzuwan (TTT Batch 2) from Langkawi, enjoying the event

Mr. Mohd. Syaufiq also responded to several questions by the alumni in regards to how training materials that were developed during employment is co-own by the employer and employee, and in essence, the principle of getting permission to prior use is always the right mindset to have.

Hj Zai (TTT MyWA) came from Ipoh the day before

Faz (TTT Kuantan) flew in to attend the event

The second featured talk was by Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad, a much-anticipated session by the trainers as Mr Soffian, Head of Vendor Management Department, shed some light on the future of training and trainer development under the scope of HRDF.

 Mr. Soffian from PSMB

Reaction from the audience was a mix of relief and excitement as the framework would definitely create a more quality driven trainers’ market and at the same time demands the trainers to keep actively training and improving themselves. Access Ideas Malaysia will certainly keep our alumni up-to-date on any progress so they won’t be left out when the changes take place.

Most active batch we ever had!

Just as the session was about to end with the usual group photo, a small surprise was in store for our Master of Ceremony as the birthday cake was ushered in to celebrate Asip’s 27th birthday.

Happy birthday Asip!

The event came to an end with Ustaz Naemi reciting a “doa selamat” for the birthday boy and the whole team of alumni in their journey to enhance the competencies of others through their future training.

Never missing an opportunity for a group photo!

Team AIM would like to thank all of those who attended the session. We were on cloud 9 as 14 batches had at least one representative present, a wonderful turn out considering the busy schedules trainers have upon getting the TTT cert in hand.

Group photo!

Hope to see you all again in our next event. Planning is already in the works and will be announced soon, insyaAllah.

Team AIM
