The Tradition of Making Resolutions on New Year

Why do people make resolutions on the Gregorian New Year? Why not at other times?

(The Gregorian Calendar is the most widely used calendar in the world today. It is the calendar used in the international standard for representation of dates and times.)

The event of the Gregorian New Year is just a trigger. The Japanese say,

“切っ掛け” (read it as: kikkake; written translation: “cut and hang”).

It signifies the mindset to end or start something at a specific interval.

Whether you make a resolution today or not, it’s up to you. Time will still continue to pass.

You can make resolutions every day if you want to. There’s nothing stopping anyone from doing so. It’s about individual motivation.

What’s important is that you make tomorrow better than today. And also ensure that you do not repeat the same mistakes.

It is still early in the year if you’re planning something. It’s not too late to start. Another 365 days, another 365 opportunities to be better at what you want to do.

All the best!
