The Economics of Training

“Can you actually make a living conducting training?”

Let’s define the meaning of making a living or earning a living.

If what is meant by making a living….

  • Extra income once in a while with minimum effort.
  • A consistent side income with above-average effort.
  • A main source of livelihood with above-average effort.
  • A source of halal income for a whole team with maximum effort.

With effort, even if it’s small, it’s possible.

Without effort — a.k.a. passive income where you just sit and wait for money to come in — it’s very difficult.

“So what kind of effort is needed?”

Business, in general, is all about supply & demand.

The most important question: Is there demand for your topic? Then, is that demand frequent or recurring?

From the supply side: Are there many other alternatives already available? Do people know that you exist? Do you have the stamina/capacity to meet demand in terms of volume or quality?

That’s the effort you need to put in. The approach (methods you choose) is up to you. As long as you have resources (mainly time, energy, or money — as investment), you can do it, God willing.

But if you’re still hesitating or wavering, it’s better not to jump in yet.

Remember one thing: everything comes with a cost.

All the best!
