Where are our alumni now and what are they up to?
It’s interesting to know where our alumni are now and what they are up to. We are happy to introduce one of our many Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Alumni, Puan Nurul Fazlin Abdul Rahman. We were very lucky to have gotten the chance to meet and catch up with her recently. It was such a pleasure to have her with us, all the way from Kuantan.
Can you share a little bit about yourself, your background in brief?

I have a degree in Biotechnology from University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), an MBA from Multimedia University (MMU) and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Leadership & HR at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). I have 15 years’ experience in Corporate Sales and Business Development, plus I am a freelance trainer.
Do you have a specific training topic?
My module is Professional Image Grooming
How did you discover Access Ideas or AIM? What led you to choose us?
AIM was introduced within our trainer’s circle and I started to find out more about the company.
As a new trainer at that point of time, I was looking for a specific training on ‘Module Development’, and I saw an advertisement about the programme from AIM. I attended the session and found the content is well structured. It was delivered smoothly by the trainer, Tuan Fauzan. I personally feel comfortable with Tuan Fauzan’s delivering method during the class as he provided a clear picture of the process. The session helped me a lot and I came to believe that it was possible for me to create a few modules according to my expertise and my client’s needs.
The journey with AIM continued when I got to know that they are also one of the appointed training providers for HRD Corp Train-The-Trainer certification course. I guess I was just lucky that they opened up a training session in Kuantan, which is where I was. Since I had a great experience the first time with their team, I signed up with them once again.
Care to share on your journey after the TTT programme? Did AIM support you in any way?
After being certified as a HRD Corp Trainer in 2019, I started to get training invitations from government bodies. I certainly was surprised to get an offer from a well-known telecommunication company as a Regional Trainer.
Unfortunately, at that point of time, I had to turn down the offer. However, I came to realize that my skills are being recognized after the TTT certification course. Indirectly, AIM has paved the way for me to upgrade myself in my career pathway especially as a trainer.
What is something that you find very helpful as AIM’s alumni?
I personally feel that the initiative of having an alumni group chat is really helpful. I might not be a full-time trainer but with the information shared among the alumni in the chats, I am always well informed with the on-goings and updates. And not to mention, the AIM team is very supportive in every aspect!
How does the TTT programme help you or how did you benefit from it?
The TTT certification course has guided us, as trainers, to understand the process occurring in adult learning. This is important because we would like to provide a harmonious learning atmosphere among adults. So, at the end of the day, we can achieve the objectives and they can apply the knowledge whether for themselves personally or at their workplace.
Are there any major challenges you faced along the way to come to where you are today?
I truly believe that experience makes everyone grow. It aligns with the quote; “Difficult roads often lead us to beautiful destinations.”
The biggest challenge for me is to be out of my comfort zone. I started out as a freelance trainer because I have a strong passion for sharing knowledge. I wanted to support individuals by giving them encouragement whether in their personal or career development.
I had my fair share of struggles at the early stage of my career in this field, when I had to meet people from different industries and understand all sorts of work culture. It requires multiple skills, not only as a trainer but also as a business minded person.
What are your plans in the future/long term?
I have registered my training business with the name HIMAGE Consultancy. I hope I can come out with at least two new modules in 2023 and start selling them.
Everyone has dreams, and I surely have mine. My dream is to build a team, to bring HIMAGE to another level. In the meantime, I look forward to new opportunities and working on building collaborations.
Any advice that you would like to share with new trainers or those who are interested in becoming a trainer but don’t know where to start.
It is important to find a mentor, by doing your own research specifically on the topics you are interested in. You can attend as many classes as you want, to learn about the skills but most importantly you have to take action on what you have planned.
I would very much recommend that you start with a certification course and you will learn about the real process along the way.
Do you have your own quote/personal motto that you live by?
“Learning is a journey that never ends.”
Are there anything else you’d like to add?
I’d like to thank the AIM team for always making training accessible for everyone. I am so grateful to be one of your alumni. I feel that your journey and achievements as a training provider is such an inspiration to all of us. May there be many more accomplishments for AIM in the future and continuous success!
