WHAT’S NEXT?

A simple guide for trainers upon completion of TTT

You have delivered your well-crafted presentation for the final assessment.

The Master Trainer also verbally confirmed that you have passed.

You waited for two (2) weeks.

Today the postman delivered your long-awaited parcel.

Finally, the TTT certificate is in your hands.

You are now, officially a “PSMB Certified Trainer”.

So, what’s next?

While many trainers go through this same process, not many are very clear of what to do next. Here, #teamAIM shares with you and our TTT Alumni some of the possible options that they can consider for their next step.

The Train The Trainer (PSMB Certified Trainer) programme or commonly referred to TTT, is considered to be the entry certification for the training industry in Malaysia. This means, not only trainers but training coordinators, training executives, training consultants and anyone working in the line of training, can and should attend the course. Having said that, the individual goal for attending the course would definitely determine the next course of action.

For trainers, the most common reason for attending TTT is, they have been getting the question, “Do you have the PSMB TTT cert?” too frequent. And not having the cert, has been the hindrance to them getting the training gig. So, if this is the case, the most obvious next step is…

TELL THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE THE TTT CERT NOW

Basically, this step falls under the category of “marketing”.

We won’t bore you with what is the definition and technicalities of marketing, but if you have been deprived of a training gig due to the fact that you don’t have the TTT cert, then by right, after getting the certificate, you should be very eager to go back to those clients to tell them that you are now certified.

In addition to that, you might also want to review and redo your “Trainer Profile” to reflect that you are now a certified trainer and have the right experience and background to train on your niche topic or subject matter. We at Access Ideas Malaysia do have coaching sessions to help our TTT alumni on this area.

Next, some trainers come to TTT with the desire to set up their own training provider company (TP). As a TP, you would surely have a proper business plan or a business model that you have developed. From here, you would know who your target market is. Now, if your target market is the HRDF contributing employers (currently estimated at about 24,000 companies throughout Malaysia), then our suggestion for your next step should be…

VISIT THE NEAREST PSMB BRANCH

Why?

To seek their consultation on how best to prepare your company to be registered as a PSMB Registered Training Provider, of course!

The good news is, PSMB is currently active in organising engagement session. And on every Tuesday, they are having their “Hari Bertemu Pelanggan” where you can walk in and ask them a whole load of questions that you might have. Believe us, the officers there will be more than happy to entertain you. So, go and build a good working relationship by networking with them.

However, if you are the type of trainer who would prefer to do training as a freelancer or as a part-time job, and avoid the hassle of managing a training provider company, we would encourage you to review your training programmes and training materials.

Having completed the TTT course, you would be aware that some of your approach to your subject matter prior to attending TTT may have been somewhat inappropriate to the adult learners and could possibly be irrelevant to organisation’s training needs. You may have new ideas based on what you have learned during the 5 days TTT to change your training delivery strategies. You may even want to start having assessment tools for your training to measure the effectiveness of your training programme. All of these actions would be a possible next step for your post-TTT because being a PSMB Certified Trainer means that you need to…

RAISE YOUR TRAINING QUALITY STANDARD

It’s not just a matter of increasing your trainer fee because you now have the cert but making sure people get the value from your training as you are now a professional trainer.

In order to do this, we often advise our Alumni to do proper goal setting and allocate a sufficient amount of time for training related activities and / or self-development. We have a series of #beyondTTT topics ready for our Alumni if they are ever interested to continuously improve to stay relevant in the training industry.

So, in summary, the next step a trainer should take upon completion of the Train The Trainer programme would fall under one of these four (4) categories:

1) Marketing

2) Networking

3) Content Creation / Revision

4) Self Development

Again, based on your goals, you would best know what to do next. For our TTT Alumni, if at any time you would like to seek our support to help you “make training accessible”, our doors at Access Ideas Malaysia is always opened. Get in touch to set up an appointment – coffee on us. 🙂
